Marcus looked out from the building, one of the many he was thinking of buying. As he looked through the glass, he could somewhat see the reflection of the man talking to him. Harold had found him a few good properties so far, but damned if the man didn’t talk a lot sometimes.
“Of course Harold, and all the needed permits can be acquired for this building? Also, how much retrofitting will this site need?”
With the second question, he addressed the other man in the room, a chemist. As he listened to their answers, Marcus’ attentions turned back out the window. As he looked across the large busy road out the way, he noticed something. It had nothing to do with what the men behind him were talking to, but he let them continue as he didn’t have anything to add at the moment.
A billboard that was in the process of going up, from it he was looking at his own face looking back down at him. Marcus couldn’t help but smile at the situation. The photo had come out quite well even at the high resolution that the billboard made it. “Colson Corp, together we move forward” Said the quote beside his face and below the logo of the Colson Corporation. Would it be everything he was hoping for? Maybe but it was what he could try.
Perhaps it was his childhood, that made this feel like he had to prove a point. In his first chance at youth he had not impressed anyone, let alone his family. But, now he was beyond that in so many ways and yet he was shackled by it just the same. It was a failure he saw in his own past, one that he hardly wished to repeat, especially seeing that this life would last far longer than his other one had. At least, any good kindred would hope it would. No this time he would do better, prove his worth, and show his value.
That value… Well he was looking at some of it now. The many construction sites near him, the documents he knew were sitting in nearby briefcases. Deeds, ownership rights, some were even stocks and petitions to change the names of some places he had taken over. “Not all business needs to be from the ground up after all, “ Marcus could hear the words of one of his professors ringing in his ears bringing a smile to his face.
“So, if there is no objections, yes we will take this space, you said there were some other spaces nearby . Maybe some that the owners might be willing to sell in the near future? Let us go, and see what the future might bring eh?”
