I just want to say how awesome my last night of this character got to be. This was everything I could have wanted in a death scene. It had great story, an epic betrayal on the eve of victory, and best of all, no OOC crap to clog up an awesome end to my story.
To those who killed me, way to go: I really never saw that coming. Very well planned and executed.
To HST Brendan who stayed after game to run this: Great job, you kept your head, calmly put up with my need to go through every bit of math looking for mistakes and loopholes, and did a great job helping to keep everyone calm.
But the best part of this really is the fact that I got to enjoy my death scene. I really got to enjoy it primarily because I knew and trusted absolutely that this was completely done for IC reasons with IC motivations, by players who I trusted to not cheat or metagame. I cannot describe how rare and cool that is. The ability to really enjoy your character's final moments is something I don't think a lot of us at this game have had an opportunity for, and that is sad. The ability to have another character kill one that I have been playing for 2 and half years, a character that I have grown to know and love like a family member to me, and still be able to shake hands with my murderers after and walk away with no hurt feelings is something we should strive for. I only hope my next character end gets to be this amazingly cool.
Am I disappointed at losing the character? Yes, absolutely. Who wouldn't be sad at saying goodbye to someone you have played and known intimately for over 2 years? I'll miss him, and I regret all the opportunities and roleplay I had been planning that I won't get to have now. But because of how cool everyone was and how cool the end story was, I'm not angry. Thank you everyone involved for letting me end this character with grace. I can't tell you how valuable that is or how much it means to me.
I have really enjoyed all the awesome roleplay I've gotten over my time playing Lechley. Thank you to everyone who helped me tell this story (I'm putting down the characters that had the most impact and connection with me). Dustin/Hamza, Eliana/Ariel, Chantelle/Cali and Concertina, Mark/Marcus, Sean/Skir and Verso, Paul/Hephaestus and Luca, Morgan/Sebastian, Jamie/Georg and Bruce, Adam/Santiago, Kaine/Illeana, Darrin/Luthias, Aaron/Dario and Thorn, Toni/Saga, Eric/Colin, David/Harkness (never met Styx), Rob/Richter, Dusty/Vandal, Brad/Dragos, Brad/Durante, Seth/Aristat and Caellich, Cefyn/Sebastian, Jenn/Sarah, Evan/Ioseph, Grizz/Grizz, Tate/Jibran, Jonas/Morris, Ben/Geist, Ross/Krantz, Galen/Pierce, River/Vex, and anyone else I may be forgetting at the moment. Thank you all. Whether you were strong allies or terrible adversaries or more often some of each, you all helped my story to be the epic tale I wanted. I love this community and the magic we can all work together to create stories that there is no way in hell any single writer or ST could dream up.
To the STs on Evan's, Galen's, and Brendan's staff, thank you so much for helping me tell my story as well. Lechley has been one of the first characters I've played where I really did a lot in the world involving STs and NPCs. You guys were all awesome in running the world and setting the scene for this character. I know fully well how hard that job is and how much work you all put in to running this game so that we can show up every week and tell awesome stories with characters that we love. Thank you for that dedication and the amazing challenges and scenes that arose for Lechley from all of you.
I look forward now to my next character and to continuing to get to roleplay with each and every one of you. I consider it a privelage to get to show up every week and tell stories with a great community. And when one ends, it just means another cool one begins.
