Kindred of the Emerald Domain,
I just received this missive from Prince Colisimo with orders to disseminate it to the public:
I’ve been thinking lately about Sonya Dombroski. I had to watch for
an hour as her skin was flayed from her body. At the time I stood
aside because I was assured she was dangerous. Before that they
destroyed my Childe, Sophia Chapman, and when I came back, heartbroken
and confused, I was met with assurances. Naive sweet Sophia, who
agonized over her Kindred nature and cried for her suffering patients
when she thought I couldn’t hear, was a crazed insatiable murderer. A
threat to the city. No proof of course, but so many assurances.
I vowed never to let that happen on my watch. At the great
consternation of some, I said that I would demand real proof, not
assurances. Imagine my discomfort then, when a few months later I was
approached by Durante Giovanni with a shocking claim. He claimed that
a member of the domain was aiding a nefarious creature of hell. He
claimed this Kindred was a threat to the city. That it had something
to do with Smith tower.
Durante Giovanni lived in this city before, you know. About 6 years
ago he and his associates invaded Smith tower and enslaved the spirits
they found within. They sucked up every sad dead idiot shambling
around the streets of the city, and for a few years there were barely
any around. We Ventrue at the time chose to gently insist that all
aspects of our domain, including its dead wanderers, were our
business. I digress to make it clear that the gentleman has always
looked upon the tower with hungry eyes. Back to the story.
His claim was false. The Kindred was not a nefarious hellspawn, but
in fact was conducting himself with dignity and honor. I told Durante
then to leave it alone. To respect the domain of the Camarilla, which
offered Fall City despite the dismal history between us, and if he had
any respect for me personally, to keep his assurances to himself
unless he has proof.
I said this as Prince of the Emerald Domain. I said this because I
made a promise to the Kindred of Seattle that I would safeguard the
interests of the city. Our city that smolders as you read this. And
now do you know what I have been assured? I have been assured that if
I hand over those who would see him pay for this atrocity, that he, in
his mercy, will spare me.
I have been graciously assured that if I merely cede Belleview to him
as his personal domain, he will not destroy me, only 4 or 5 who oppose
him.
I ask you a question. Would you live in that Seattle? In a Seattle
where the Prince has given his own home to the ravager of the city out
of naked cowardice? Would you stand aside as the authority of the
Camarilla is flayed alive? Durante may have the power to assassinate
us singly if we cower in fear. But as for me, I would rather die on
my feet than live on my knees.
With this statement in mind:
Fellow Kindred, welcomed and tolerated guests,
It is my duty to announce that His Highness, Prince Colin Colissimo, does hereby on this night of Saturday, November the 23rd of the year 2013 invoke the sacred Tradition of Destruction upon the person of Durante Giovanni of the Clan Giovanni for high crimes against the Domain of Seattle and her residents.
Durante has taken personal responsibility for the storm and havoc caused last week as well as the destruction of Smith Tower, which he claims was a catalyst for the greater disaster. While the Necromancer claimed that his actions were to protect the Domain from a serious and emergent threat, the fact remains that our city stands amid devastation, thousands of lives have been lost and the city's infrastructure lies in shambles.
It is not given for one not of our sect to determine what is best for Seattle nor whether a loss of lives and danger to Kindred is warranted or not without the leave of His Highness. Durante's actions are therefor inexcusable and force His Highness to invoke the Lextalionis.
No Kindred of the Camarilla or Vampire of any allegiance may provide succor or aid to Durante Giovanni, lest he find the Hunt extend to himself as well. Members of Clan Giovanni are expected to respect this ban, a Tradition older than the Camarilla itself.
The Right of Destruction is never called lightly and can never be undone once invoked. As it has been declared by he who sits in Praxis within this Domain, let the word be carried to all and sundry of the Domain; Durante Giovanni's existence is forfeit for his crimes.
Prince Colissimo also does hereby rescind the granted territory of Fall City from the Giovanni and reclaim it for the Camarilla. Under the stewardship of their chosen leader, the Clan Giovanni has left a large portion of Fall City a disastrous shamble akin to Seattle's downtown. Any members of Clan Giovanni wishing to remain in Fall City or elsewhere in the Emerald Domain are expected to make a full accounting of themselves this Saturday night in the safe halls of Elysium. His Highness wishes to make it clear that the blood hunt against Durante does NOT extend to any other member of the Clan Giovanni unless they are found to be aiding or abetting the Hunted.
