Good evening my fellow Kindred.
The Starry Night Masquerade Ball was an unqualified success and I would like to thank Ms. Sterling and Clan Toreador for the pleasure of the party they hosted as well as Mr. Mercer in his position of Keeper of Elysium for allowing the event to proceed under his wary eye. Truly, only in a Camarilla City could we expect to see an event that drew luminary names from distant domains to gather and discuss matters great and small, afforded a Follower of Set the opportunity to waltz with a lady of the Giovanni and provided an inquisitive young Anarch the blessing of being serenaded by Ancillae and Elders of two great Clans. These acts, some of magnitude and others of no lasting consequences are the hallmarks of the greatness of the Camarilla – we come together under an agreement of common Traditions and allow civilized discourse on that which matters to us. In striking down Durante, the defenders of Seattle struck a blow not only in vengeance for a wrong done and unanswered; but for the hope of continuing a common agreement for how we might shepherd the Nights of this world as beings above the ravages of our base beasts and expedient impatiences. I congratulate you all with warm sincerity.
((OOC: Thank you to all the players who made the masquerade ball possible!))
As many of you noticed, this event was a hotbed of political activity in addition to being a testament to the efforts of those who acted to destroy the Autarkis Durante Giovanni. I am pleased to discuss the details of the night with all of you.
The Primogen Council met in chambers to discuss the progress Primogen Fantana had made on the Blood Contracts to be offered to Clan Giovanni as a prerequisite to their toleration in Seattle. To those concerned, the aim of the document is to enforce the Promise of 1528 and detail how Seattle will act in regards to those portions of the Promise left to the discretion of the Camarilla. We honor the agreements of our Elders and will continue to do so despite the actions of some to destabilize the situation. The conversation regarding the details of this agreement will continue when his Majesty returns this coming week and the Council can discuss, advise and be guided properly by his word.
The Lady ((OOC: Amber, I am a dork and didn’t write down your NPC’s name. I suck)), Lesser Harpy to our Esteemed and Honored Grand Harpy as well as an incredibly talented operatic vocalist, did Seattle the honor of returning for the second Masquerade Ball in a row to visit our fair city. We had a few moments to catch up on the latest gossip and discuss the details of the Blood Contract discussion as well as the recent Primogen Edict on loaned status. I look forward to hearing what this shrewd voice will say in her report to the Grand Harpy of her time in our City.
The Well Esteemed Lord Mereck ((OOC: Cam Lore 5 says I spelled this right?)) of Berlin graced us with his presence and spoke in earnest about his concerns regarding the Council’s recent edict against those who are not acknowledged in Seattle loaning their influence in to resolve questions of scandal. While Lord Mereck and I do not see eye to eye on the matter, I feel as though his personal attention and the attention he brought with him as representative of a number of European Elders were a welcome compliment to the serious nature of this discussion. What we have done in Seattle is not the status quo. What we have done in Seattle goes against the opinions of some regarding the nature of the Social Contract at the heart of the Camarilla. They are well within their rights to call question and voice concern. The best thing we can do as a city is listen respectfully and explain our position as I attempted to during our brief interaction. Instead of rehashing the points made on both sides here, I hope to reach out to those similarly concerned in our own city and attempt a public discussion on the matter – not a scandal resolved by status, mind you; a civilized and respectful exploration of the concerns and opinions on both sides of the matter. I hope you all will consider attending such a talk at our next Elysium. Perhaps Mr. Mercer will do us the honor of moderating such a discussion or providing a moderator who’s quality he trusts.
The last of our luminary attendees was none other than the Lady Cenobia of Rome, a well-respected Elder who was recently accused by the Anarchs of violating their territory in Tacoma recently. The Lady, fresh from Rome and having not stepped foot on Washington’s soil for many years, has arrived to lay to rest any concerns regarding her character or actions. I am confident any actions taken by the interloper in Anarch custody while masquerading as the Honored Lady will fall justly on the shoulders of the transgressor herself especially in the face of the unquestionably real Lady.
Finally, the accounting of business of the evening:
Lady Sterling owes Mr. Metzger a Minor Boon for the magical protection of the Elysium.
Ursula, Whip of Clan Gangrel owes Silas Boren a Trivial Boon for arriving late to the Primogen meeting and interrupting discussion.
Silas Boren owes Ms. Sterling a Trivial Boon for the use of her European contacts to verify some information.
Silas Boren owes Mr. Metzger a Minor Boon for keeping a matter private.
There was also a change in status for a member of our Court. As much as I’d love to tell you about it now, I’d like to make sure the individual in question in present for the announcement as well.
See you all in court.
