Good evening to you, my fellow Kindred.
What an amazing evening we had at Saturday’s gathering. As there were a number of events of both excitement and scandal, I’ll focus on a chronological order of events.
Firstly, the debate regarding status loaned into Seattle from foreign domains, organized by our most excellent Keeper of Elysium Thomas Mercer and timed by the elegant Carmen Masters, between Lady Aristadt Alexandrei of the Brujah and myself went swimmingly. I compliment the lady on her excellent oration and mastery of rhetorical logic. It has been literally centuries since I have been allowed to indulge in political discourse of such rich substance and eloquent reason. As the debate itself was decided to be an exhibition and not a challenge of standing or status, we have no need to sully the occasion with base terms like “winner” or “loser”. Instead, I think all who attended can agree that both the Lady and I made well-argued on each side of a matter of importance to the domain and of interest to the Camarilla has a whole.
After the formal debate ended, an informal discussion across Elysium organized itself. At the locus of this discussion was Lord Merek of Clan Ventrue, a voice of strong dissent against our edict against foreign status in matters of scandal. While the discussion itself was entirely lively and exhilarating, the details of the discussion are long enough to risk boredom if I attempt to recreate them here. I will not do Lord Merek, Primogen Fantana or any of the other participants that disservice. Instead I will summarize as follows:
Problem: Seattle has announced a policy that is different from that of all other Camarilla domains.
Response: No other domain sees as much interference on City-specific matters as Seattle does. We are unique in our position so far removed from local Camarilla Neighbors and as the defacto entertainment for bored Elders the world over. We need a unique solution to ensure our matters are handled to Seattle’s interest.
Problem: What may seem like petty personal scandals here may be part of larger social movement within the Camarilla. Without being able to loan status in to resolve such matters of actual import, how will Elders who are the strong pillars of social authority, be able to sway results?
Response: Aside from personal travel, which Lord Merek made a strong case against, Elders (or anyone else) always have the recourse of offering boons to respected individuals in Seattle to present their case or loan their own status to resolve a matter. In matters of Camarilla concern, the offices of the Grand Harpies and Justicariat as well as their chosen assistants will ALWAYS be able to loan status into matters of the city and even if they don’t, their opinions and concerns will always be heard.
At the end of the night, Lord Merek stated to me that while he does continue to feel concerns about our approach to scandal, he no longer harbors doubts that Seattle is anything but a staunch member of our Ivory Tower. Across the vast gap of different experiences that defines him and me as Elders and Peers, I believe we have come to an understanding. More than that would be an unrealistic expectation. I wholeheartedly thank Lord Merek for visiting our city and expressing his concerns and dissent.
Unfortunately, I must now turn from civil discourse and enlightened debate to matters more base. Primogen Styx of Clan Nosferatu has accused Veritas and Aequitas, two elders of Clan Assamite, of entering Nosferatu Domain and abducting the tolerated Samedi known as Filias. Primogen Styx further accuses these elders of delivering Filias to his final death. This is a complicated situation as both Assamite Elders are status bearing members of the Camarilla but have refused acknowledgement in Seattle, instead opting to be tolerated here and spend their time in Tacoma, claiming to be independents. Both individuals are requested to present themselves peaceably in Elysium this coming week to answer the accusations of Breach of Domain, Refusal of Hospitality and the accusation of breach of Destruction. Bringing the Samedi known as Filias with them would go quite a long way to dismiss the final charge and allow us to focus on whether there is scandal instead of whether the Prince needs to direct his Sheriff to step in.
On to matters of record.
Since a question has come up; the Caitiff known as Amelia is formally under the Accounting of Morris Tobias of Clan Venture, who is well known for mercifully taking in strays and providing them an education. Amelia is welcome to accompany His Highness, Primogen Andrist and Myself in Mr. Tobias’ absence at Mr. Tobias own word.
Keeper Tom Mercer owes a trivial boon to Carmen Masters for keeping time at the debate.
Primogen Fantana owes Keeper Tom Mercer a trivial boon for using his unique insight to review the contract documents for the Giovanni.
Marcus Colson owes Primogen Styx a trivial boon for causing a trivial inconvenience to the Primogen with Clan Gangrel.
Ursula of Clan Gangrel is known as Diplomatic and is now Revered as Primogen of the Gangrel in Seattle.
The independent known as Vex Morningkill now claims the position of Second in the Great Pack of the Gangrel, submissive only to their leader, Karsh. As the defacto voice of this congregation of independent Gangrel in the region, Mr. Morningkill has approached me to request assistance in understanding the policies and expectations of the Camarilla. I have acquiesced, when my time will allow, and in return asked Mr. Morningkill to provide a character reference to the Great Pack so I can be of use in case of diplomatic need.
