Twilight had fallen on the Aequitas and Veritas. As they had done every day for a long time they prepared the water to transport them home. The ritual complete water ready Veritas began to step into the pool.
“COME TO ME.” The familiar ancient voice called to them in their mind.
As if more out of habit rather than magic they rose and walked from the squalor of the house that they used. Nothing past from Aequitas or Veritas they simply walked as the sun steadily greeted them over head.
Hours passed before they found themselves in a park filled with children playing on the equipment.
“I remember this park.” Veritas broadcasted to his brother. Aequitas tilted his head questioningly
“This is where Hephaestus killed those people.”
Aequitas pulled his Bible from his pocket and read aloud a prayer.
Prayer complete there was the shortest moment of realization that they were outside and that the sun was out.
“COME TO ME.” The voice called again, and again they continued walking.
Deeper in the park past the children’s toys, near the lakefront set another black clad individual on a bench in the shade.
Aequitas and Veritas approached the bench and fell to one knee. With a slight movement of his tongue Veritas moved to the appropriate pebble so that he may speak.
“We were under the impression that you were in the creators arms.” Veritas spoke via the pebble.
“I have been risen, my home, my sanctuary that you’re sworn to protect has been violated.” The cloaked figure spoke.
Aequitas began to speak “But that’s not…”
He cut off with a violent glare from his brother.
“You know who I am, you know what my rising means.” The figure stopped speaking and spit on the ground the pebble by which Veritas used to communicate.
“I call you and your brother to serve once again.”
Veritas’s mouth almost creaked to spread his jaws and ran his tongue across his lips.
“Yes Master.”
