This most recent gathering I was rather bombarded with points of note and interest. Before I had so much as walked into the Salon, I received a telephone call that proclaimed the Prince, in her wisdom, had informed the Court that she had found the contacts of neonate Marcus Colson to be of great use, and that such well-connectedness in one so young should not go unrewarded. Furthermore, the Ventrue Clan of Seattle took the opportunity to set Marcus Colson up as Ventrue Primogen, as, with the Prince's word and that of the Keeper of Elysium, he technically had sufficient standing to sit at the Council. I was originally rather incensed that the great Clan Ventrue that I have so respected and, indeed, idolized in the person of Mithras, had been seemingly reduced to shoving this man onto Council. With dramatic timing, Fat Tony, the Ventrue former Harpy of Chicago (that's a city here in the New World), called the Prince moments after I had declared my skepticism of the whole affair to tell the Prince that as far as he knew, all of Ventrue stood behind Colson. To my further distrust of the selection, Fat Tony declined to put his name behind Colson, which left me feeling like someone was setting the bright-eyed and still-cooling Marcus Colson up for a large-scale failure that the Emerald Domain can ill afford. I spoke with Balefire on the matter, and he said that he could not speak to the intentions of Fat Tony or the clan at large, he personally finds the new Primogen a very worthy holder of the seat in his absence. This open declaration of faith having somewhat restored my own, I was able to lay my concerns to rest and properly welcome Primogen Colson to court. Colson later informed me that he found my political caution a very savvy approach to Seattle politics. Needless to say, I advised him that he would be wise to adopt the strategy himself, given his unique situation.
Malkavian Primogen Mad Tom Mercer arrived at the Salon in something of a state that evening, appearing to have inadvertently fed from kine somewhat the worse for drink. At first, he had my complete sympathy, as it is so easy to accidentally drink tainted blood in these lax times. His conversation was indecent in the extreme, focusing as it did on anal sex toys.
For his service in watching and protecting the Door beneath the city, the Prince finds Akos Diak to be a prime defender of Her Domain.
On a side note, I’m told that there are Sabbat still attacking the city, though I’ve seen little evidence of them. Unlife continues more or less as usual in the Emerald Domain. I, of course, have received no status reports; I did hear that the Prince personally interrogated a captured Sabbat, but she did not see fit to share the details with me. Through my own efforts, I have learned that the war goes fairly well. The Sabbat here have suffered several serious casualties, and one pack has left the fight entirely.
The astute reader may remember my assistant Harpy, Alice Harte. It is worth noting that, due to choices she has made in the last week or two, I find myself forced to dismiss her from my service and further black her name as I see just. First, I renounce her as my lesser Harpy because (not that I truly need a reason; I nevertheless supply one out of respect for the high position in our society she held formerly) she was not very good at the job at all. To make matters worse, rather than bring this to my attention and step down, she simply avoided her duties entirely. I gave her three weeks to shape up, and during that time she made no reports, recorded no boons, and spent the majority of her time fruitlessly hunting mages. Because I can see nothing at all that she is good for, I say she is useless. After I made this announcement, the former Keeper, Tristan McKenna, let slip to me that Alice was also not of great help when Tristan was faced with the prospect of planning the event in such a short time, proving the choice of Alice as host to be an inefficient one indeed. Prince Bella Maurice has since informed me that the mages in question were hunting Kindred in Seattle due to Alice’s ‘pre-emptive strike’ on a member of their group, despite being told to watch but not engage. Futhermore, She informed me that such behavior does not, to Her mind, ring of patience, which is odd, since I do believe that is one thing Alice Harte is known for. Obviously this shall no longer obtain.
The Prince has decided, and I agree, that all those previously declared to be Knights of the Emerald Domain are no longer recognized such. A Knight must swear fealty to the liege of the lands they serve, after all, and none of those formerly called such is even Acknowledged under Prince Bella Maurice. The sole exception is Pierce, who died valiantly defending the Domain from the Sabbat and upon whom She has bestowed her favor in Death.
Colin Colissimo, the former Prince of the Emerald Domain abandoned his honor when he abandoned his charge without explanation or warning.
Veritas abandoned his duty to the Domain as a Deputy Sheriff in a time of siege, which is a move I cannot fit with his image as a handy Kindred to know. He also betrayed his contract to the Prince, and She wishes it known that he is not as clever as people say.
David Price’s habit of abducting and torturing those residents of the Emerald Domain is hardly conducive to maintaining his reputation as a nice person.
As a brief aside, I have yet to find the conversation of Allegra Tali interesting or particularly eloquent.
Aristat Alexandrei very unwisely left her post (again) while the city she is sworn to defend was under attack. I have yet to die as a result, but the Sabbat haven’t left yet either.
Simone Harvey left the city chasing after Colin Colissimo in some indecorous haste, abandoning her position as Malkavian Primogen with barely a word to anyone. While I understand the hold that love can take in the minds of the young, a ‘by your leave’ may have been appropriate, given the tense circumstances surrounding those early days of Her Grace’s reign.
Ileana Cardea has overstayed her welcome in the Emerald Domain. As she is both a former Prince and a tiresome meddler, the Prince has declared that if she is not out of the Nine Circles by the end of this month, she may find that it is Sheriff Hephaestus doing the asking. I understand that the Keeper has taken Morris Tobias as her second Host, and will be using his establishment (The Nine Circles night club) as a weekly location for Her Grace to hold Court.
