Search Ramps Up For Missing Family of Four
SEATTLE HERALD
by David Wong
The family, who lives in Medina, a Seattle area waterfront community on the shore of the Puget Sound, was last seen on Oct. 18.
"This is 100 percent out of character and very concerning," Timothy Meeker's sister, Sarah Partridge, told Seattle's "Northwest Evening" on Monday.
Authorities suspect foul play in the case, due to Mr. Meeker's initial filing of a Missing Person's case for his wife and two children almost a month ago. Now the King County Medical Examiner's office doctor is missing as well.
"There's nothing in the home that looks like a crime scene," Seattle Police Department Det. Derek Tines told the Seattle Herald.
"But someone has information about them," he said. "It looked like they left in a hurry. First he reports his family missing and then he disappears? Either he's behind it, or we didn't do enough to keep him safe."
Timothy Meeker, 33, and Sabine, 34, had no known enemies in the community. Their finances -- Sabine owns a successful commercial cleaning business, and Timothy is a doctor -- are also in order, police said.
County Coroner's Executive Jim Caldone told the Seattle Herald that Timothy Meeker was a hard worker and often logged 70 to 80 hours a week for the county coroner's office.
"He was never late. He never missed a work appointment," Caldone said.
Police have searched the Meker's home twice, but have yet to find any clues suggesting what might have happened to the family.
The case is eerily similar to the Feb. 4, 2010 disappearance of the McFalkner family in California. In that case, Henry and Alice McFalkner, along with their two boys Connor and Charles, disappeared without a trace. Four days later their car was found abandoned near Vancouver B.C. Canada. The case remains unsolved.
In regard to the Meekers, police believe they may be traveling in a 2010 Ford F-150 silver pickup truck with a license plate of XOR132. They reportedly have ties to Maybrooke, Fla., Chicago, Ill., Gary, Ind., and Arizona.
"We are so worried about you and Tim and Sabine, we love you. Please just let somebody know that you're ok," Timothy Meeker's mother, Lani Meeker, said on "Seattle Evening."
Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of the family is asked to contact the Seattle Department of Public Safety or the SPD at 1-800-CRIMEBUSTERS.
