Monday, May 2nd - Dawn
The boys had worked all day to build what she had requested. All of them working together, and leaving her alone. Alone to bathe him, to prepare him for this. To do what she had never had to do, but was going to see through to the end.
Now, as the sun flirted with the horizon, he lay upon the pier, dressed in a clean white suit, as if just resting peacefully. She had banished everyone, still wanting to be alone. Alone with her thoughts and the memories of so many lifetimes. She lay her hand against his cheek, her breath hitching in her throat as her heart contracted yet again at the coolness of his flesh.
She didn’t speak for long moments, waiting for the sun to rise. But the tears had stopped flowing, and now she stood strong, gazing upon this face of her love for the last time. Memorizing every line, every crinkle. Just before the first light of day hit her, she said the words that she had been supposed to say just a few days before. Words that would bind her heart forever.
She felt the Oath take hold, watched the ring form around her wedding finger, and kissed him one last time. Then she stepped back, the tears flowing once more as she lifted her hand and caused the pier to light. And there she stood, still as a statue, watching her better half burn to ash while the sun rose on a life without him.
When the last of the fire had burned out, she gathered it all up with the help of her magics, placing it in a beautiful chest. Then she picked up the chest and turned back to the manse. It was time to figure out how she would live without him.

“Let the moon and the stars be my witness as I pledge you my love.
I shall hold you in my heart with the passion of a thousand suns.
Roam though I may, I shall always return to you and let no other remove your memory from me.
You are my true love and so shall you stay, no matter where my destiny takes me. “
