Officers chased a man to a home Friday afternoon after he rammed a police car while driving away from a shoplift in the Mount Baker neighborhood.
Employees of a grocery store in the neighborhood called 911 just after 2 am when a man ran from the store without purchasing the four cases of Power Boost Tonic Max he was carrying. The 44-year-old suspect hopped in a waiting car and sped off when he was spotted by a responding officer. The suspect rammed the police car with his vehicle as he drove away. Officers tailed the suspect until he jumped out of the car and hurdled a fence before ducking into a nearby home. Officers contained the man in the house while the SWAT team responded.
SWAT arrived but were unable to take the suspect into custody. Law enforcement is currently looking for leads on the man.

Detectives are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying multiple assailants who robbed an engine repair and manufacturing company last week as well as terrorized an elderly security guard.
The assailants foisted money on the security guard after subduing and locking him inside a small room. The elderly guard was intimidated and at one point knocked to the floor, as well as experienced a loss of personal control over his bodily functions, resulting in the soiling of his clothing and a facility bathroom. One of the suspects threatened the guard and rummaged through the building. The guard sustained injuries during the encounter and was treated at the scene by SCFD. The suspects fled the shop before officers arrived. Despite an extensive area search, the suspects were not located. Robbery Unit detectives responded and processed the scene. Video of the scene was not available, due to water damage done to on-site security servers. Anyone with information about the suspects is asked to call the Robbery Unit.
