May 31st, Mt. Elbrus in the Caucasus Mountains of Siberia
The two kindred slept for most of the flight conversing little as the pilots chased the sun half way across the world. The plane landed in Moscow as its passengers welcomed a new night. A car awaited them as they disembarked the plane; its driver welcomed his passengers and drove them to their destination, a small cabin on the side of Mt.Elbrus. They stepped out into the snow enjoying the beauty that surrounded them as their driver disappeared into the distant haze.
They did not wait long before each slowed and faced each other. Victor took the opportunity and levied his snowball first, as it smashed into her shoulder.
“Ha, see I can hit the broad side of a barn and even better I can hit a Brujah in a snow storm, fine there is no snow storm” Victor quipped until struck by her reply.
“Ouch, damn your strong arm”
“I’m not throwing that hard.” She replied with amusement
Victor rubbed his face as he spoke,” You sure, must have been a rock then, just to keep me in line”
Henrietta took his words and went with them, “To keep you in line” as she pounced hitting her mark and sending the Tremere into a snow lined tomb.
A quick retort and wry smile accented the wizards lips “ Ahh, greater depth for snow angels, excellent plan” His arms and legs flailing in a difficult attempt to make a deeper snow angel.
Having succeeded in shoving him to the ground, she grinned and rolled to the side staring up into the star filled sky.
“The air is so much fresher up here, I am so glad you accepted, I really needed this, as so do I believe you might have.” He said, his face barely sticking out of the snow he rested in.
“Oui, I did need this” as she stuffed a handful of snow into his face.
Soon they were both covered in un-even flakes of snowfall as Victor’s arms lifted the snow around him into the air, the snowball in his face forced out of his mouth with his tongue.
She laughed and jumped to her feet running a few paces away before turning
Playtime had just begun for these two now it was time to get serious. Victor looked over at his newfound prey and rolled to his feet facing her, the remains of a snow angel under him.
Across the field of battle she snarled playfully, bending her knees slightly as a snowballed was forming in her hands, waiting.
The Warlock slowly backed away moving behind the nearest tree as the snow at his feet rose off the ground in an inverse tornado, forming into a snow ball in his hand.
Watching the snow rise from the ground she knew he had something up his sleeve bracing her-self to move at a moments notice.
As he throw the ball it was clumsy, the work of an amateur, his accuracy was insufficient and the ball passed several inches from her side before hitting the tree behind her. Damning his lack of physical prowess for placing him at a disadvantage here.
Henrietta did not hesitate, as he made himself visible she took aim and fired the snow in her hand at him gauging the distance and force to apply. Slow to react he stepped further behind the tree, the snowball nicking the tree yet filling his right ear in white powder
Distracted as he was, she took the opportunity to move closer, her feet barely making a sound in the snow, another snowball already forming in her hand
Wiping the snow from his ear he moved to a larger tree, in the hopes of receiving more cover, his steps heavy, with no attempt made to hide his movement behind the larger tree.
She watched him, losing all sight of him until the snow around the tree rose up into the air, moving behind the tree. The normally loud crunching of snow he made stopped, believing him motionless and waiting she stops near a tree to use as cover, waiting to see what the Warlock will do
Unbeknownst to his prey the sky became the land he walked upon now and his prowess removed his visage from sight. The ensuing seconds passed slowly before a snowball of great size appeared above her; only visible the instant before it smothered her in the face and crumbled to the ground, its wielder now visible, upside down floating above her looking into her eyes, smiling.
Growling “That's not exactly fair Victor”
“No, but its fun. Want to try?” the only words he could say before the front of his shirt was held firmly in her hands.
Her quick reflexes and greater strength plummeted him head first into the snow at her feet, thought she did notice he seemed as difficult to throw down as to pick up. The snow plumed into the air as his body disturbed the fresh flakes below. Between the patches of snow on his face a broad smile persisted
Holding him there, she mock glares, but her eyes shine with laughter “Now, are you going to be a good boy?”
The words "your turn " left his lips only moments before her feet left the ground, her grip still firm on his shirt holding her steady as her body slowly floated a few feet over his, and his smile increased... "Me a good boy, you must have the wrong warlock" and he laughed.
She simply laughs, letting go of his shirt to revel in the feeling of flight*
As she let go, Victor laid his arms back into the snow as this beautiful woman above him slowly raised further off the ground to just under the tree canopy and glided between the trees, a slalom in flight the seconds ticking like minutes as she returned to a clearing near them and sailed slowly spiraling upward. Above the tree line she completed a last languid circle before the wind swept from below and she descended several feet from the warlock who now sat calmly by a tree.
"Fun isn't it,” he said in smug satisfaction.
Her face serenity itself, her eyes opening only when she feels herself stop in her flight. She smiles to Victor, her eyes filled with utter joy “Yes. It is.... freeing”. Her voice soft, as if not wanting to disturb whatever is happening.
His head turned towards her, a quizzical look on his face and asked, "What in all the world do you desire the most?” He remained calm and serine as if music played in his head.
Her expression grows sad "Something I can never have again."
“I am sorry if my question saddens you,” moving closer to her, “but if you are comfortable I would still desire to know, what it is you desire so, yet saddens you as deeply as it appears to.”
“She looks up into his face” My greatest joy has been my children.... and I shall never bare another.”
His hands reached out to hers, mourning across his face " I am sorry to arouse such bitter memories” Holding in his mind the real understanding that it would be possible for her to have a child but not knowing if he had the influence to bring his clans magic to bear for one not of his clan. That thought only made him more sorry for asking the question.
She smiles and squeezes his hands gently “I am glad that you asked. You are the first I have told in all my un-life. Thank you.”
Noticing that the stars were fading and the night sky grew lighter Victor moved to stand assisting the woman of his affections to her feet “The night grows late and the morning comes, let us return to the cabin to rest for the day, I must make some preparations tonight before retiring.”
“Of course “ She said, her smile not fading as they turn towards the cabin
Holding the door for her Victor made several rounds throughout the cabin placing mystic marks over the doors and windows, finally several around the cabin, after about an hour he approached her as she finished preparing her room for sleep "We are safe now."
She simply nodded, having watched him with interest.
"Pleasant dreams to you, and may the day refresh us" Bowing he made his way to his room showing obvious signs of exhaustion.
"See you tonight Victor, and thanks for bringing me here," finally making her way to her own room and lying down to rest.
