He hated traveling as much as he loved it.
It was like every other relationship he'd had
with lovers.
The sand caressed his feet in a low breeze
as he stared about the night lit dunes.
Home for another night.
She was out there somewhere..
She had been a thing, in Asia, on and off.
She'd traveled with him, milk white skin
and lips red as blood.
Sweet as blood and just as hot and
wet against his flesh..
He shivered to remember.
He almost missed her, his vixen.
She was her green eyed Todd, and she his
blue eyed white furred love.
But the dreaming decided his duty was more important..
"Anything.. Anything.."
His mothers voice said.
"We must do anything we have too ..."
His feet slid through the still warm sands as he moved
down towards the oasis stop.
He saw animals there and people.
He wasn't precisely sure what had him going this way,
but it's the way it tugged so he went.
The feeling pooled in his belly like quicksilver and soothed
the closer he got.
There was a small Bedouin camp, mostly changelings,
some shifters.
They were currently eating, putting their food over the
top of their face masks.
Marking them as genuine.
As his feet took him he as wrought with memory.
Lullabies sweet on his lips as they traveled together.
Her hands soft in his, the feel of her nails tickling at his
wrist.
A night in an oasis..so long ago.
Flesh, hot as the night cooled, dancing and writhing
together.
Laughter from her lips, other things from her lips, coaxing
him..bringing him to life once more.
Her warm breath against his cheek as he stared up at the stars.
Why remember this now?
Over hills, this lovely creature
Over mountains, over ranges
By great pyramids and sphinxs
We met drifters and strangers
Eshu, sidhe, some pooka..the camel pooka was interesting
and he had to do a double take to be sure that's what she was.
He moved among the group and was met with curious eyes.
It was the oldest, a grey skinned eshu with a wizened smile
and wrapped in linen monk garb who put his hands out to accept Seth.
The younger Eshu's hands touched his, and he noticed that
all here were grumps accompanied by two prodigals.
"I've come to show you the way."
The older Eshu smiled at Seth's declaration.
Oh the sands, my lovely creature
And the mad, moaning winds
At night the deserts writhed
With diabolical things
The sands lifted and howled and the younger Eshu looked up
and his brows knit. He looked to the other Eshu who nodded
and spoke with a voice thick with accent.
"This will be no easy journey. But you've done it
before. The wind howls triumph over you."
Seth gritted his teeth. He bore it, the slight, the opened wound.
He did as he did then and soothed it with the balm of his mothers words.
"Anything.. Anything.."
His mothers voice said.
"We must do anything we have too ..."
He led the old troupe in the windy knight, the windstorm that
whipped at them and drew up flashbacks.
Her hand in his, her terrified whimpers, her scream shattering
the howl..
The dreaming had taken it's price. His brows knit and he bared
his teeth.
The troupe needed to find the Crystal Keeper and her Ward.
There was no time to answer the mocking laughter.
"The only thing you ever need to know son, is that you
must do whatever it takes.. Many will say you are evil. Many will
say you are selfish and without scruples." His mother's voice
whispered. "But on the day when it comes to matter, Son, you will know that you have done -everything-
in your power, and on that day you will have no regrets..."
It was like every other relationship he'd had
with lovers.
The sand caressed his feet in a low breeze
as he stared about the night lit dunes.
Home for another night.
She was out there somewhere..
There she stands, this lovely creature
There she stands, there she stands
With her hair full of ribbons
And green gloves on her hands
There she stands, there she stands

So I asked this lovely creature
Yes, I asked. Yes I asked
Would she walk with me a while
Through this night so fast
Yes, I asked. Yes I asked
Would she walk with me a while
Through this night so fast

She took my hand, this lovely creature
"Yes", she said, "Yes", she said
"Yes, I'll walk with you a while"
It was a joyful man she led

The wind lashed and it whipped me
When I got home, my lovely creature
She was no longer with me

Somewhere she lies, this lovely creature
Beneath the slow drifting sands
